In this story, I shared with you that I lost 14 pounds almost magically during my 1-month vacation China while I was eating a lot of yummy food without being on a diet.
It was quite amazing yet unfathomable at the beginning: I’ve been on a yo-yo diet for a whole year — trying almost every fad diet out there yet making no progress. How could I possibly lose a single pound when I was not holding myself back from eating all the delicious food out there at all?
It was later when I realized the secret was in the food I ate during those days in China. And while I was indulging those beautiful, flavorful, and drool-worthy dishes, I was giving my body all that was needed to shed the pounds effortlessly.
What do I mean by that?
First of all, my cravings and emotional eating issue were gone simply because I was not depriving myself — instead, I had quite yummy and satisfying meals.
Then, my sugar cravings disappeared.
Meanwhile, I was naturally eating less because I didn’t feel as hungry as before — creating a natural calorie deficit even without counting.
And there was this immense mental freedom because I knew those pounds were consistently going off me even with my eyes closed.

Ultra-Simple, Fat-Burning Beef And Onion Stir-Fry
200g thin-sliced beef (tempeh or firm tofu if vegetarian/vegan)
3 cups of sliced onion
1 tbsp. ground ginger
0.5 tbsp. cumin powder (or more if you'd like)
1.5 tbsp. ground black pepper
2 tbsp. coconut oil
1.5 tbsp. soy sauce
1 tbsp. cooking wine
2 tsp. salt (or more if you'd like it)
1 tbsp. diced fresh scallions
Step 1. In a bowl, mix beef well with ground black pepper, cumin powder, cooking wine, and soy sauce. Let it sit.
Step 2. Heat the oil in the skillet over high heat. Add the ginger. Once fragrant, add the diced onion and stir-fry for 4 minutes until soft and translucent.
Step 3. Add the marinated beef, stir-fry with other ingredients for 4 minutes until well cooked. Add 1-2 tbsp water if the pan gets too dry. Salt to taste. Serve.
That’s it. All it takes is about 15 minutes to cook two servings.
